Born Good: How to Outrun the World’s Noise
Ever feel like there is a better, kinder version of you buried under all the daily stress? It is not just a feeling—the truth is, you were born good! Before the world started getting loud and before you felt like you had to look out for yourself above everyone else, you were naturally kind and caring.
Finding Your Original Compass
Deep down, you have an inner compass—a gut feeling that tells you who you actually are. You don't need to go to school to learn this; you just need to uncover it. When you stop worrying about what everyone else expects from you, you'll find a version of yourself that is naturally kind. You do the right thing because it feels right in your heart, not because you're following a list of rules.
Why We Get So Mixed Up
If we’re all born good, why is life so complicated? It usually comes down to two things:
- The Tug-of-War with Self-Interest: We all have instincts to protect ourselves, but if we aren't careful, those can turn into greed. Sometimes we choose what's best for us personally instead of what's best for the whole human family. When that happens, our ego spins a story to convince us that being selfish is just being "smart" or "practical."
- Hand-Me-Down Ideas: Most people aren't trying to be the villain; they're just following a misguided blueprint handed down by parents or relatives who genuinely thought they were teaching you the right way to survive. These "Inherited Shadows" are like echoes of someone else’s past struggles. Your heart knows it’s not right, but you don't want to feel like you're letting your family down.
The Path to Being You Again
Finding your why back doesn't mean you have to be perfect, it just means clearing out the noise so your natural goodness can shine through:
- Check Your Thoughts: Ask yourself: Does this belief feel like a script I’m supposed to read, or does it feel true in my gut? If it causes drama or hurts someone, it’s probably a borrowed idea, not your own heart talking. If a belief causes drama or hurts someone, it’s probably a "bad doctrine" rather than the truth.
- Think Big: Try to choose what’s good for everyone, not just what's good for you. It takes a lot of honesty to admit when you're just acting out of old fears you picked up along the way.
- Clearing Out the Junk: Unlearning things is like a breath of fresh air for your mind! Toss out those old, wrong ideas about being "tough" or "better than others" that don't actually help anyone.
Bottom Line
Acting out doesn't mean you’re a bad person; it just means your view is a little bit cloudy. If you can drop those borrowed ideas and choose what is better for everyone, you're not just helping yourself—you're returning to the version of you that the world actually needs. You were born good! Remember that, and let it lead the way.
